Mary Ann Nassa

Mary Ann Nassa is Director and founder of Yoga Concepts in Cranston, Rhode Island (bikramyogari.com). Considered the pioneer of Bikram Yoga in the Northeast United States, she opened the second studio outside of Los Angeles in 1985. Mary Ann has been practicing Bikram Yoga since 1984 and is master certified under the exclusive tutelages of Bikram and Rajashree Choudhury, Emmy Cleaves and Jimmy Barkan, bringing more than 34 years of practical and teaching experience in the Bikram Method.

Subsequent to heart surgery in 1973, Mary Ann was introduced to the Bikram Method that enabled her to recover from the physical disabilities caused by her heart defect and corrective surgery, as well as maintain wellness. Through her own experience, she has devoted her life to the practice and teaching of this extraordinary system of Yoga. Her mission is to inspire, educate and encourage students by infusing her knowledge and passion for yoga in each posture, giving gentle and helpful verbal cues with particular emphasis on breath and proper alignment.

Mary Ann has taught several professional athletes, has been featured in the Providence Journal Health Section, and on several occasions has appeared on the news on Channel 6 and PBS, Channel 36 (Healthcare Directions) in Providence, Rhode Island. Mary Ann has assisted Bikram and Rajashree Choudhury with workshops and seminars since 1992 at the Kripalu Center, Omega Institute, the Los Angeles Headquarters and throughout the United States and Canada. She continues to expand her knowledge through classes and workshops with Rajashree, and is honored to assist Rajashree Choudhury with seminars and workshops throughout the United States.
